Wait, they don’t know that he’s immortal? Or wait, is he? How could he catch any disease if so?
I’m thinking he died from the fever, and was resurrected when they tried to burn his body…
Nope, check the page fater the one you linked. That is Ms Black rising out of the Ahes. Who, in the backflash two or three pages back, was shown suffering from the fever.
I believe Fairportfan was extrapolating from that event, thinking it might have happened to him in a similar manner.
Generally being immortal wouldn’t protect you from disease, it would just mean that you have it until it can be cured. If it can’t be cured…. well, that sucks for you.
No pack mule? Clearly, these bounty hunters haven’t brought enough nuclear bombs for JHH. Hooray for more horses though! Anyone want to take bets on which, if any, survive? I’m backing the palomino.
The palomino apparently belongs to scouty-guy – who is smart enough to be wary of Hunter. So, good bet.
You guys should actually lock in these bets somewhere.
Your art was awesome to begin with, but it just keeps getting better and better!
Very much obliged — with the baby I’ve been really rushing some of these pages and always worry I’m slipping so that’s super encouraging to hear.
nice little dollars reference there if it is one
Color me impressed as always by your creation of atmosphere, characters, and story….and I almost can hear the rain again…shiver.
Thanks so much, Karyl!
Nice combination of character sketching and exposition. There is a very strong impression of the pelting rain and of isolation. I could almost hear the thunder.
I needed two passes at the last frame to assign characters. I think that is because the two dark-hatted figures had swapped position, the distinctive mustache and hooked nose of the leader were lost to foreshortening and his collar and the young, open face of the other dark-hat was only half visible in frame 3.
Thank you kindly — and I see what you mean about the character reconfiguration in the last panel. I skipped Flint stepping past Lee & Eli to his horse and it’s sort of confusing.
Well Squidbunny I was wondering when these guys would catch up to Hunter. I agree with the others about your out standing art work, character development, story, hell everything. I get the impression you must have loved western movies and TV growing up. The group leader of the guys tracking Hunter bares a strong resemblance to the late Lee Van Clef.
One of the hats has a white band, wich served as enough identification for me. Also: Haircolour.
Thanks, jsf — and I did/do indeed love westerns.
It’s delightful, how You did the rain, the atmosphere, it’s most delightful. The shades so deep, lights delicate and clean yet aptly sharp where they should be. It’s really highly enjoyable to just stare at this page for few minutes and then snap back to reality. One of the prettiest works I’ve seen lately.
Thank you so much! It was a pleasant surprise to see so much positive art feedback on this page — I spent a lot less time on it than most of them and was nervous about how it turned out.
Benn in the hospital for awhile and just now got caught up on the stroy. Your art just really lifts ones spirirts. can’t wait for more. By the way it was a staph infection.
Glad you’re feeling better!
Is Flint about to demonstrate valuable idiocy? 😮
My respect for these gentlemen is tempered by the fact that they are seeking shelter from a thunderstorm under a tree….on top of a hill.
The guy dressed in black in the third panel has a strong resemblance to Lee Van Cleef from A Few Dollars More and the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
