Always love the subtle little touches, like the hearts and diamonds here.
Nice catch — and thanks!
I like to think the fire burning up the memories of the past is Vane’s rage.
I’m gonna make NTO T-shirts: a black one that says “I’m a Vane,” and a white one that says “I’m a John.” And then I’ll send a complimentary Vane to all the INTJs I know, and a John to the ESFPs… not that I’m friends with a ton of those.
Instead of the horse…what could he be holding in that past memory I wonder. I’d name my horse Flush…or maybe Egyptian Rat-screw.
If JHH is ever in possession of an Arab racer of any kind I vow to name it Egyptian Ratscrew. Unless by then you yourself are already making a mint racing an actual horse of this name.
This has gotten me all sidetracked reading about old card games on Wikipedia. The German card game of “Schipp-Schnapp-Schnurr-Burr-Basilorum” has got to be my favorite name for a card game so far. As for using it to name a horse, the horse would have to be some sort of fire-breathing horse made of pig iron and sauerkraut.
This conversation has become my favoritest byproduct of the comic.
I remember the whole argument about the borders distracting from the art but the more I see it the more I think it fits in and adds a little…. panache to the comic. It also works well with the irregular panel placement. Half the reason I waited for this comic to get started was because I love the how you’ve been working a lot of elements into the story that are purely artistic in nature…. what’s really nice is how much of this story is being told sans words. It’s a radically different style (artistically and literary) in comparison to Hell’s Corner. All that said, I’m dying to find out the back-story behind the characters so far.
Thank you kindly — for the praise and for the vindication of my stance in the paneling wars. 😀
That burned-through panel is amazing!
It’s crazy awesome. …given the rate that many artists seem to improve at and the already amazing aspect of this comic…
So, Hunter wore a dark suit in former times. A burning memory, as I must see.
Oh man. Oh man your art. YOUR ART.
She’s already dead, isn’t she? I mean, like, zombie-status…
No image showing in either Chrome or IE8 =/
Loving the artwork though!!
Oh! It showed up after I posted my comment
