That panel with Hunter turning around is gorgeous.
Also, things looking not to good for our favourite (?) Pyromancer.
Ah, but JHH is never without a plan…
Who is in the shadows? Is it JHH? Is he playing at illusions?
Emanon, what shadow? Are you referring to the shrine statue in panel three?
Buh… it was late, I was tired from working late, it’s medication’s fault, it happens to all guys eventually!!!
(I’m an idjut.)
No you’re not an idjut. Just tired.
True, but if JHH pops out of that statue yelling “Gotcha!” I’m totally owning it.
Oh, just shaking my head here—What’s next?? I agree with the turning panel comment by RSG–whew! Will we get more info about Vane’s parents? or was that a one of a kind moment…..
Well, Vane’s really unleashing hell now, but again, to what ends. Neither of these two protagonist seem to die. Anyway, Vane’s got to be pretty darn strong to let fly that many rounds from the hip and have such good control over the recoil. I’m in love again. Oh yeah, once again John Henry’s beautiful over coat gets messed up again. He should start wearing red instead of white.
What I don’t understand is why Vain didn’t lead with the multi-taper rather than the little popgun. She’s never shown such restraint before. Although I wonder where the steel plated diamond is?
Diamonds?! I wonder where the Hell the posse is!
Why, oh why I am still rooting for her? Maybe because she’s claiming one deadly sin after another honestly, a if she isn’t telling herself she’s all wonderful like, or could it be that I just love vulpine, haunted girls with guns?
I fear the answer.
Honzinator, maybe we’re just suckers for red heads. XD!
These two ah ALWAYS so astonishingly CIVIL, even as they-ah try’n t’kill each uh-
thah. Ah Simply can’t Ah-BIDE that word civil!
Guess I do actually have to add an “r” in places other then the beginning or a word occasionally.
Where exactly was she keeping that?
Slung on her right shoulder. You can see the sling and the stock in panels 4, 5, and 7. (And much more clearly on page 4.) 😉
Thank you, I thought that was a crossbow.
Another beautiful coat wasted. Seriously. Can’t she undress him at least a little bit beforehand? Good tailors aren’t easy to find you know…
And even scarcer now, considering what happened to the one we did see in the comic…
That’s what I’ve been saying for a while now – “Vane, dear, you need bigger guns”.
However, I’m not sure she fully understood what I was trying to tell her, because I was thinking more on the line of siege artillery… which would also have come with the bonus feature of making it easier to destroy peaceful towns – especially since this one looks a lot less flammable than usual.
But yeah, in all seriousness, I’m not even sure who we’re supposed to be rooting for – both Vane and Hunter are terrible people, although more as a side effect of being monomaniacs about their respective obsessions. They’re so focused in getting what they want, they don’t care who they kill or maim to get their way.
Good idea, the artillery. The flame wouldn’r get him, but he’s as vulnerable to blast-waves as anyone (except the wind mage he conned, perhaps).
Also, speaking of monomania, I am not rooting for Vane because of her red hair, but despite her Viking ancestry. Maybe it’s an Annie Lennox fixation from my youth? Or maybe I just loathe liars. See also the John Edwards effect, where former fans were the most viciously unbelieving of anything he said and relentlessly hostile after his sins came to light. For those people attracted to his looks, apparently the unmasking was harsh indeed.
Is it just me, or is it a little early for the showdown? I mean, normally Hunter rides into town, gets a chance (and gives on to the readers, I might add) to know some people, then Vane rides into the same town, and most of the townspeople die horribly (or suffer in some way). In other words, we get a chance to see the world around these two first before they start trying to kill each other. Here, we’re just getting straight to the killing each other part. Makes me wonder if something bigger ain’t in store later on in this arc…?
RSG – I agree, I wish I looked that good wearing my duster.
JSFury – I think the popgun was to get his attention.
I’m definately a sucker for redheads; I married mine. There is a certain similarity in their personalities.
WingsOfWrath – Unless we’re talking “Nuke him from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure,” or even a “fully armed and operational battle station,” I’m not sure Vane could muster a big enough gun!
