Ah, looks like Diamonds has a score to settle and a plan to execute–how will that turn out?
A horse is a horse of course of course, except when it is a mechanism or a nasty pseudocritter.
My god that poor horse. Both of them actually, I hope when its done they get to go to the most wonerful pasture in the sky.
What a minute. How the hell did Diamonds know there was trouble? I didn’t see Vane call to him. Unless he mistook John Henry’s whistle for him. I’m also surprised that Vane’s demon is not astrid John’s diablo cobio! Erin, your illustrations are so amazing.
I wonder how much of Diamonds is actually left.
Enough apparently.The important bits anyway.
Can’t wait to see how this comes out… because honestly, trying to track all of the cause & effect threads of where & how Diamonds’ motivations and loyalties might pan out at this point feels like trying to guess the longest noodle in a plate of spaghetti.
Is he on the side of John, or Vane, or Vane’s demon? Does he know about the demon? How much does he understand, or care about, or NOT? Does he know/grasp things we don’t? How much, uh, paranatural influence is he subject to? Ow my brain? I think I sprained a speculator.
This has officially become a My Little Pony/Transformers/Bravestarr crossover.
two PO’d stallions? Uh, I’ll just stay on the other side of the fence of the other pasture with a ridgeline in between.
If a horse, or dog or sheep, or whatever sees something hostile like a wolf, some may “run”, others may “fight” to get rid of the threat.
This story is so good! Nothing goes where I think it might. I love it.
First comment from a longtime lurker–uh, I haven’t previously studied the construction of Diamonds’ mouth, but for a second there it I thought they might actually like each other a lot?, uh, I mean, instead of liking the idea of exterminating each other . . . which may explain why they are running toward each other . . . of course among these demons the two concepts aren’t mutually exclusive . . .
Wait, if the mechanical horse is Diamonds, then who’s this other horse? I may have to reread the last couple of chapters…
I feel like someone else just linked this, but the demon stallion is the Outlaw, and Hunter has literally had him since Book 3 http://www.nexttownover.net/?p=555
Going back to the last couple of chapters won’t do you any good since as far as I remember Outlaw was in 3,4,5 and 6 but didn’t really show up in 7&8, probably because Hunter was trying to pass for totally-legit-not-a-mad-bad-necromancer in both of those.
