Next Town Over is on a semi-hiatus due to my first kid and my eroded buffer. I didn’t want to leave the place sit idle during this indeterminate span, though, so I asked you what you wanted to see in the interim, and you overwhelmingly voted for a visually simpler short story I could keep up with updating while I square away motherhood and the first NTO collection. This is it.
Black and Hunter will eventually return in Next Town Over Book 5: Wayward.

Oh man, dat gallant stride! The stakes must be very high indeed.
Wow you’re work is awesome!!
Very much obliged — hope you’re not totally basing this off the Genevieve short, though! ;D I feel kinda self-conscious, now, like the place isn’t in a fit state for company.
Your work is as beautiful and rich as ever. Congratulations to you and yours on the blessed event. Take as much time as you need, your loyal readers shall still be here, waiting for you. BTW, it’s never messy, it’s lived in and comfy.
Holy New Orleans, did you do that on purpose?! I mean, look at that French Quarter Lace! Do you live here, or did you do research before drawing, or do mine eyes deceive me?
I’m glad that came through in the blobby Genevieve backgrounds! I do not live there, but I’m a big fan of the architecture and was really trying to evoke New Orleans — the town this short takes place in is sort of NTO’s New Orleans allegory, Red Fork.
