Next Town Over is on a semi-hiatus due to my first kid and my eroded buffer. I didn’t want to leave the place sit idle during this indeterminate span, though, so I asked you what you wanted to see in the interim, and you overwhelmingly voted for a visually simpler short story I could keep up with updating while I square away motherhood and the first NTO collection (I’d be much obliged if you could help out with that, incidentally). This is it — I promise next week something will finally, sort of, happen in the story, too.
Black and Hunter will eventually return in Next Town Over Book 5: Wayward.

And quoth the amulet ‘nevermore’
still, not much going on but it is a good story so far.
Pro-tip: Bone amulets have the best soul holding capacity
Alsooooooooo is that the same raven in the 5th circle as in the 3rd? Whered the amulet gooooooooooo?
It’s there — you can see the string and some schnibbly standing out from the bird’s silhouette if you look really hard.
But! I totally just had to look and verify, myself, because I did this page incredibly late at night and it seemed just as likely that continuity fell completely by the wayside. I read your comment and went “Aw, damn, what.”
Ahhh i see it now. Sorry for causing any undue panic ;P
Don’t know who Genevieve is exactly, but I can’t help feeling ‘Mr Autha’s’ statement is going to be horribly prescient.
Dude keeps a creepy-ass statue like that on his desk? No wonder he was like “Sell my soul? Ain’t no thang.”
Statue? Methinks that’s one genuine taxidermed raven… You know, it came as part of the “My Little Edgar Allan Poe” beginner writer’s kit.
I wonder if Genevieve has red hair.
Oh man, I can’t wait to see how meta this gets!
Maybe it’s just me, but did anyone else notice how the silhouette of the raven on the desk (in the large panel) kind of looks like a leg coming out of the drawing of the woman? I realized after doing a double take that it clearly was the raven. At first it looked like Genevieve was ‘Jolie-ing’ the leg.
I totally thought it was her leg until I read your comment.. looked back and went “oooo ya I see it!”
